National Asian Peace Officers’ Association President Issues Statement on Local San Diego Chapter Member, Officer Jonathan “J.D.” DeGuzman fatal shooting

DeGuzman was member of the San Diego Pan-Pacific Law Enforcement Association

(San Diego–July 31, 2016)  President Taerance Oh of the National Asian Peace Officers’ Association today issued a statement in the shooting death of San Diego Police Department Officer Jonathan “J.D.” DeGuzman and seriously wounded Officer Wade Irwin, expected to recover.  

“It is with great sadness we are witnessing another senseless act of violence toward police officers.  This time my fellow brothers in blue were the victims of hate.  We mourn with the family of J.D. DeGuzman on the loss of both a loving father and husband and extend our deepest condolences.”  

“I had the privilege of working alongside J.D. not only as a law enforcement professional, but as a member of the San Diego Pan-Pac Law Enforcement Association, the local chapter of the National Asian Peace Officers’ Association.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.”

“We also wish Officer Wade Irwin a speedy and swift recovery.”

“To all my brothers and sisters in blue, stay safe and vigilant.”

The San Diego Police Officers Association has established a fund for Officer DeGuzman’s family. Donations can be mailed to: San Diego Police Officers Association, 8388 Vickers Street, San Diego, CA 92111. Checks can be made payable to the San Diego Police Officers Association (SDPOA). Please write “Officer Jonathan DeGuzman” in the memo line.
